Maryann Makekau is an Air Force veteran, spouse of a retired member, and mother of two grown military children. She’s also an author and founder of Hope Matters. She attended the 2012 Military Experience and the Arts Symposium where, in a supportive environment of fellow veterans, she we was able to contextualize her experience surviving Military Sexual Trauma (MST) for the first time.
