2015 Symposium Highlights

The second national Military Experience & the Arts Symposium was held at Cameron University in Lawton, OK on May 14-17, 2015, and it was a huge hit! MEA brought together over 150 veterans from twenty states across the country for four days of workshops, community building, art exhibitions, and nightly speakers and performances. Over 70 workshops helped veterans learn more about creative writing, artwork, Native American flute making, publishing, self-publishing, intellectual property law, and much, much more.

Night events included a performance by the Exit 12 Dance Company, a presentation by Benjamin Patton, Doug Berky, and Albert Gray Eagle.

And, last but not least, we recognized our founder, Travis L. Martin, who ended his tenure as President and Editor-in-Chief at the end of the Symposium. Mr. Martin distinguished himself over the course of these past four years as a dedicated leader in the veteran community, one whose vision has created our organization for veterans all over the world.

You can read more about the Symposium on its homepage, including a complete list of workshops, workshop leader bios, sponsors, and details about nightly events. A comprehensive media kit is available here, and a detailed Welcome Packet is also on file.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to Cameron University, the city of Lawton, OK, and most importantly, the veterans and family members who attended this event. MEA2 was an outstanding success thanks to everyone involved.
