“Fakarava Shores” | Travis Weaver

Title: “Fakarava Shores”
Artist: Travis Weaver
Medium: watercolor
Size: 4.5” x 7”
Artist Statement: Fakarava Shores is not a gaping hole in the ground of doom, you hear no tortured screams of grown men, Fakarava shores is a small peaceful home sheltered quietly under the tropical trees that sing you to a welcomed dreamless sleep. If it wasn’t for the military, I probably would not have found those shores or painted that picture. It made me who I am today and gave me a lens through which to look at life. It is a painting that represents a life lived in spite of the military, and a life lived because of it.
