“A Sailor’s Daughter”

My father is a nomad
Who’s obsessed with the idea
Of building a home.

Maybe that’s why
He sired two anchors
To tether him
To the land.

It didn’t work.

But we hug him when he visits.

She works at the KSU Writing Commons, the Wick Poetry Center, Brainchild Magazine, and New American Press.
