Title; “Incident Management”
Artist: Brigette McBride
Size of Work: 24″ x 18″
Medium: Oil Paint
Artist Statement: This piece was inspired by my time as a K9 Handler. In K9 you train as a team and you train for the worst scenario. When you find yourself in a critical incident, if you’ve prepared sufficiently, you and the team operate as one, almost on auto-pilot, working together to stave off death. The piece reflects the trust, cooperation, and teamwork that can be found in the K9 Unit.
Bio: Brigette McBride has had a long career in public service, first serving 4 years as a mechanic in the US Navy, followed by 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff, with the last 8 years working as a K9 Handler. She handled two dual purpose Explosive Detection/Patrol K9s: K9 Hero and K9 Anubis. K9 Anubis retired with Brigette. After retiring, Brigette has turned her focus to art and creating pieces that reflect her extraordinary experiences. K9 Anubis works as Brigette’s some-time model and full-time muse
