“Wall and Trench”

Description: A central theme to my military art falls to Homer, simply because of the canonical nature of his work: The Iliad is about going to war, while the Odyssey is about coming home from war. Being the first and second works of the western canon, it is no mistaking their timeless relativity and importance in translation through successive policy-making and military experiences of nations. In this scene from the Iliad, we are late in the story and the Trojans have gained the maximum momentum that they will achieve, and this nearly succeeds as they work through this critical obstacle that is equally symbolic throughout warfare (walls and trenches), pushing the Greeks back into the sea and setting their ships ablaze.
