Artist Statement: This piece was inspired by my fellow K9 Handler Deputy Steven Stryker and his K9 Kimbo. Deputy Stryker and K9 Kimbo were just starting to find success as a K9 team when K9 Kimbo tragically lost his life due to a sudden medical issue. The piece reflects the trust, cooperation, and love that can be found in a working K9 Team.
Bio: Brigette McBride has had a long career in public service, first serving 4 years as a mechanic in the US Navy, followed by 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff, with the last years working as a K9 Handler. She handled two dual purpose Explosive Detection/Patrol K9s, K9 Hero and K9 Anubis. K9 Anubis retired with Brigette. After retiring, Brigette has turned her focus to art and creating pieces that reflect her extraordinary experiences. K9 Anubis works as Brigette’s sometimes model and muse.
